Billie Eilish recently told the LA Times that she isn’t ready to speak about the trauma she alludes to in the last line of her song, “Getting Older.”
The track, featured in the forthcoming album, Happier Than Ever, includes the line, “I’ve had some trauma / Did things I didn’t wanna / Was too afraid to tell ya / But now I think it’s time.”
The “Bad Guy” singer said, “I don’t want to tell anyone, let alone the entire internet. It’s embarrassing to go through stuff like that. It’s why a lot of women and men — but especially women — don’t tell anyone when they’re going through it.”
She continued: “But at the same time…even though I haven’t really done anything for the #MeToo movement, it’s really important that young women know that it can happen to anyone. Just being taken advantage of.”
“Getting Older” is the first song on the 16-track album featuring songs like “Your Power” and “Happier than Ever.” She posted the full track list on Instagram Saturday (July 24th) with a reminder that her sophomore album drops on Friday (July 30th).
