Olivia Rodrigo has spoken out about the drama surrounding Courtney Love’s accusation that she copied her band’s artwork by using a prom-themed photo.
Years apart, the two artists had used photos similar to the movie Carrie to promote their music. In June, Love posted her disapproval of Rodrigo’s promotional photo and indicated that she needed to ask permission to do it.
In an interview with Variety, Rodrigo took the high road and seemed unbothered by it, and said, “She’s from a totally different generation, so I thought that was cool. I didn’t really give it too much thought.”
That was not at all what it looked like online. Love was accusing and upset, and Rodrigo replied to her post with “Love you.” Then, Courtney Love responded sourly by telling Rodrigo that she expected her to send her flowers with an apology.
