Jay Z was reportedly told by the FBI that there was an “imminent hack” on his email account and that he needed to delete his emails. The hack threat came amid the ongoing lawsuit filed against Jay-Z by perfume brand Parlux Fragrances — who sued the rap icon for beach of contract for his signature “Gold Jay-Z” cologne by failing to properly promote it. According to Parlux, Jay-Z backed out of a business deal after already receiving $2 million in royalties. The fragrance company also alleged that it lost a total of $18 million from the failed venture. Jay-Z responded to these serious claims by countersuing and alleging that Parlux breached its own obligations in the business deal.
Yesterday (November 10th), Jay Z was cleared in the suit. According to Billboard, he won't be held liable for $67 million in requested damages. No money was awarded to Parlux or JAY-Z, who was seeking $6 million in royalties from the deal.
