Lorde has postponed her New Zealand and Australia tour dates until 2023.
The tour, originally slated to hit her home country and neighboring Australia, was pushed from early 2022 to early 2023 because of recent outbreaks and the uptick in the virus numbers in New Zealand.
Lorde commented and said that she was “beyond devastated” to have to postpone the shows. Starting the tour in New Zealand was really important to her on a personal level. And as she put it… it would have been a “huge high.”
Lorde’s statement included this: “I fought this decision for a long time, but the truth is that touring internationally through a COVID outbreak has a ton of unforeseen moving parts, and I’d much rather play for you when we’re all confident it will go smoothly. I want to apologize wholeheartedly to the fans. I’m so gutted to let you down, but so grateful for your understanding. We’ll rage next year.”
This would have been her first tour in her native land in five years.
