YVETTE MIMIEUX DIES AT 80: Time Machine actress Yvette Mimieux was found dead on Tuesday (January 18th), after she had recently turned 80 on January 8th. Deadline reports that she passed away in her sleep due to natural causes. She had roles in films such as Where the Boys Are, Platinum High School, Mr. Lucky, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and Light in the Piazza.
ALEX TREBEK’S JEOPARDY! HOST PICK, LAURA COATES, SAYS SHE WAS REJECTED: Before he passed away, longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek said he thought Laura Coates would be a great candidate for his replacement. Coates, however, says producers felt differently. Speaking to Tamron Hall on Monday (January 17th), Coates said, “I asked for the opportunity when it came time, when they were looking for people to possibly fill in. I certainly raised my hand and knocked on doors and found them closed. I asked for the opportunity. I was told, ‘No.'”
ELLEN’S GAME OF GAMES CANCELLED AFTER FOUR SEASONS: TVLine reports that NBC has cancelled Ellen’s Game of Games after four seasons on air. The show premiered in 2017, and featured DeGeneres leading contestants through a series of games for a chance to win $100,000. This news comes after DeGeneres announced last year that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will conclude after 19 years. DeGeneres claims that the controversy she faced in 2020 regarding workplace toxicity is not the reason for ending the show.
NEW TRAILER RELEASED FOR MARVEL’S MOON KNIGHT: Disney+ released the trailer for its new series Moon Knight on Monday (January 17th). Marriage Story actor Oscar Isaac stars as the new Marvel superhero who suffers from a sleeping disorder. “I can't tell the difference between my waking life and dreams,” his character, Steven, says. Since Moon Knight is a new character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much of the show is left a mystery. According to E! News, the show is set to be released on March 30th.
