Will Smith has opened up about his rapper days.
During an appearance on David Letterman's Netflix special, Will admitted that he hated being called a “soft” rapper because he didn't curse in his music.
He explained, “That was really our major distinguishing quality at the time. It was comedy, it was punchlines, it was fun. We stood out in a really good way. We sort of had our own lane…it was always that I was soft. I hated that, being called soft.”
Will added that his grandmother was the reason he didn't curse because she had written him a letter, telling him how talented he was and that he didn't need to curse in his rhymes.
