Los Angeles County prosecutors revealed Thursday (June 9th) that leaked documents could compromise the felony assault case against Tory Lanez.
Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta told the judge that part of the discovery was given to the media or members of the public following Megan Thee Stallion’s April 25th interview with CBS News’ Gayle King.
According to Rolling Stone, Ta said in court, “My concern is the way the leaks are being disseminated and extrapolated in certain ways to mislead the state of the evidence. I do have concerns about invested members of the public trying to subvert the fair administration of justice.”
Lanez’s Lawyer, Shawn Holly, assured the court that the leaks did not come from her “watermarked” discovery and added that Lanez “refused to accept” his own copies “out of concern there might be some suggestion that he had something to do with leaking.”
Lanez has pleaded not guilty to charges he shot Megan in both feet following an argument in the Hollywood Hills in July 2020. His trial is currently set to begin on September 14th.
