Earlier this week, global debt and climate protesters decided to use Black Sabbath's “heavy metal” bench in Birmingham, England to highlight their campaign. According to Blabbermouth, the activists placed placards around the necks of the metallic images of Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, reading “G7: TURN DEBT INTO CLIMATE ACTION”.
The placards were quickly removed by alert Westside BID staff, but the the protest was acknowledged as “democratic” and the protesters were thanked for not causing any damage to the bench.
The protesters — who regularly uses the hashtag #debtforclimate on social media, want developed nations in the west to cancel the debts of third world countries.
