Yesterday (July 7th), a Georgia judge denied bond to Gunna for a second time. He will remain in jail until 2023. As previously reported, back in May, Young Thug, Gunna and other YSL Records artists and affiliates were named in a Georgia RICO indictment. On May 23rd, Gunna was denied bond after prosecutors argued that the rapper is actually a documented YSL gang member and a dangerous leader in the organization.
According to TMZ via WSBTV, Gunna appeared in court virtually in an effort to be released on an “extreme bond that would include house arrest and recorded phone lines,” but due to his alleged role in YSL, prosecutors reportedly urged the judge to keep Gunna in jail so that he is unable to potentially intimidate witnesses.
Gunna has maintained that he is innocent and has been falsely accused. The trial is currently set for January 9th, 2023.
Meanwhile, according to HotNewHipHop, in the case against Young Thug, judge Ural Glanville has issued a new protective order for all of the witnesses in the case. It has been alleged that some witnesses have received threatening messages from those in Young Thug's camp. As a result, the judge is telling the defense that they cannot share witness information with their clients.
Thug's lawyers have denied any wrongdoing.
