Dr. Dre is reportedly selling his music catalog. According to Billboard, the deal is said to be over $200 million. The licensing will be split between Universal Music Group and Shamrock Holdings.
The divide will see each entity acquire portions of Dre’s catalog that are most aligned with their business interests.
It's being reported that Shamrock is believed to be buying into passive income generated by Dre’s LP’s such as royalties from his first two solo albums. While UMG is reportedly buying the master recordings of the Hip-Hop icon’s most notable releases.
