Hundreds gathered Saturday (January 14th) for the funeral of Memphis rap legend Gangsta Boo. Gangsta Boo, born Lola Mitchell, died on January 1st during a trip home to Memphis. She was 43.
According to Action News 5, the service — which was also streamed online, was held at Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi. During the service, Shelby County Commissioner Mikell Lowery shared some kind words about Gangsta Boo, saying, “Lola was not only a Memphis legend. She was also a hip-hop legend.”
Memphis rap legend La Chat also had a few words to say about her best friend. She saidm “This is a hard one right here. I’m going to miss her so much but I know she’s still here,” Daniels added while pointing to her heart.
Glorilla also attended the funeral. She told the news, “She’ll be The Queen forever. Long live Lola, we’re gonna keep putting on for you.”

Meanwhile, after the service, Boo's boyfriend of nine years Emett Flores said that he was grateful that Memphis shaped her into the person she is. He explained, “I’m so grateful to the City of Memphis for influencing Lola so much. Everything I learned from her comes from Memphis and I am grateful for that.”
He also revealed that he found out that she passed on Instagram. He said, “I was just talking to her the night before. She performed with eight ball MJG and I told her I loved her. I told her be safe. She sent me a picture of us on New Year’s from 2017 and I sent a picture back.”
He continued, “I was watching football the next day and someone hit me up on Instagram to tell him of her passing.”

In related news, Three 6 Mafia's DJ Paul revealed why he was a no show at Gangsta Boo's funeral. DJ Paul and Juicy J were heavily cricitized for not attenting the services. DJ Paul revealed via Instagram that he was on tour and that he doesn't attend funerals in general.
He said, “N*gga, I paid for the funeral, h*e! I'm on muthaf**kin' tour and even if I wasn't, I don't do funerals, n*gga.”
He continued, “Boo know how much I loved her, I know how much she loved me, n*gga. I ain't got nothin' to prove to none of you punk-a**, groupie-a** n*ggas up in there.”
