David Jolicoeur, also known as Trugoy The Dove of De La Soul, has died. According to TMZ, sources say that Dave passed away yesterday (February 12th) at a hospital in Maryland. No other details have been released but sources say that Dave's death appears to be from natural causes and that he ws battling an undisclosed illness.
So far, De La Soul's other members Kevin Mercer, known as Posdnuos and Vincent Mason, known as Maseo, haven't released any statements about Dave's death.
David co-founded De La Soul in 1987. The rap group went on to release threealbumsd, with two of their projects being certified platinum and gold, respectively. Some of De La Soul's well known songs include "Me, Myself and I," "Eye Know," "The Magic Number," "Stakes Is High," "Ring Ring Ring," "Say No Go," "Breakadawn," "Oooh," "Buddy," "All Good," "Ghetto Thang," "I Am I Be," "Ego Trippin (Part 2)" and more.
Three of their songs have been nominated for Grammys over the years, with one of those — a collaboration with the Gorillaz in "Feel Good Inc." — actually winning Best Pop Collaboration in 2006.
