Foo Fighters — with new drummer Josh Freese — kicked off their first tour dates since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins on May 24th at Gilford, New Hampshire's Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook. The band's 21-song set featured Dave Grohl's daughter Violet on “Shame Shame” and “Cold Day In The Sun,” which was dedicated to Hawkins. The band has just dropped their latest single, titled “Show Me How,” featuring Violet on lead vocals.
Four songs from the upcoming But Here We Are album received their live premieres, with the band performing “Rescued,” “Under You,” “But Here We Are,” and “Nothing At All.”
Dave Grohl shared with us a while back his thoughts about the Foo Fighters' growth as a live act: “The first tour we did, we were playing to maybe, I don't know, 500 people a night or something like that, y'know? And then that turned into doing theaters and so you get to that stage where you're playing to 1,200 people and you're like, 'Man, I could do this for the rest of my life, this is great.' And then you get to the point where you're playing to like 5,000 people a night, and then you start selling out arenas and you're like, 'God, I can't believe that we've gotten to this point.' And then you start selling out stadiums, and it just keeps on getting better, y'know?”
Foo Fighters perform tonight May 26th at Boston Calling 2023 at Boston's Harvard Athletic Complex.
