Queen + Adam Lambert hasn't played during 2023 yet, but the group is already looking ahead to 2024. It's just announced five Rhapsody Tour dates for February in Japan, starting February 4 in Nagoya and also playing Osaka and Sapporo (for the first time in 42 years) before closing February 13-14 at the Tokyo Dome. Queen has been touring with American Idol runner-up Lambert since 2011, and guitarist Brian May tells us that during those past 12 years they've seen the band's following expand exponential and bring in many younger fans who continue to discover the band.
Queen + Adam Lambert, which also includes original Queen drummer Roger Taylor, has released two live albums and one studio single, a recording of “We Are the Champions” as “You Are the Champions” during May of 2020 as an early pandemic fundraiser for the Solidarity Response Fund in the U.K.
We asked Brian May if he and his cohorts ever think about writing and recording brand-new new music:
We’re always open to something happening, its just that we have busy lives now…etc. :54 (OC: now I get to do it, which is wonderful.)
May recently released a 40th anniversary boxed set of his recordings with Star Fleet Project, an all-star band with Eddie Van Halen and REO Speedwagon drummer Alan Gratzer that released an EP during 1983. Taylor, meanwhile, released a solo album, Outsider, during 2021 and a follow-up live album, while Lambert released a covers set, “High Drama,” in February that did not include any Queen songs.
