Reese Witherspoon is defending her culinary choices, after fans criticized the Sweet Home Alabama actor for eating snow. On Friday (January 19th), she shared a TikTok video of herself collecting fresh snow and making what she called a “Chococinno.”
Along with a scoop of snow that had fallen on her car, Witherspoon added cold brew coffee, chocolate syrup, and salted caramel. Some people expressed concern over her decision to consume the snow. “No no no.. snow is not made to eat..” one person wrote. “U can get seriously sick.”
In a second video, The Morning Show actor replied to the commentary by saying, “There's so many people on here saying snow is dirty so we went and took snow from the backyard and we microwaved it and it's clear. Is this bad? Am I not supposed to eat snow?”
Later, she settled on the motto of “'You only live once,'” adding that “it snows maybe once a year here.” Witherspoon also wanted fans to know that “it was delicious.”
According to Today, NBC News’ health and nutrition editor Madelyn Fernstrom said in 2021 that snow is okay to eat so long as it’s “freshly fallen.” She added, “And it goes without saying, no snow plows, either anything that’s plowed or on the side, even if it looks OK, skip that. And of course, skip anything that is not snowy white, anything that’s discolored at all.”
