Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, has become the first to surpass 300 million streams in a single day on Spotify. The first single, “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, broke records as the most-streamed song in a single day on the platform, surpassing Adele’s “Easy On Me.” The album also reportedly sold 1.4 million copies in traditional sales on its first day of release, making it Swift’s biggest sales week ever for any album. Her previous largest sales week was for 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which sold 1.359 million copies last year. She further boosted her streaming numbers by adding a surprise 15 tracks to the album, creating a deluxe edition with a total of 31 songs. Prior to this, Swift also held the record for most streams in a single day with her previous albums Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
