An Optimum Nutrition survey of 2,000 Americans found that 65% of respondents have trouble staying motivated when it comes to their fitness goals. According to the poll, initial motivation lasts for about a month before a new push is needed. 43% of respondents are looking to lose weight, 43% want to increase strength, and 35% want to increase mobility. 29% realized they were out of shape when they couldn’t climb stairs without feeling winded. “When you first start a new fitness routine, that moment of realization is powerful…That’s the sort of motivation people need to keep their fitness habits up,” Jim Hogan of Optimum Nutrition said.
