A letter signed by scientist Albert Einstein encouraging the United States to develop nuclear bombs will go up for auction at Christie’s in September. The letter, written in 1939, is addressed to then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The note warns that Nazis may create these weapons themselves. The letter is expected to fetch at least $4 million dollars. Although it’s signed by Einstein, physicist Leo Szilard and other scientists penned the note. Einstein agreed to sign due to his status as a famous scientist. Einstein would later come to regret his role in creating nuclear weapons, as it turned out Nazi Germany was not successful in creating an atomic bomb. (AOL)
