A Minnesota candidate was arrested after allegedly throwing a live tarantula at a tenant. The incident occurred last Thursday when attorney Jackie Vasquez allegedly refused to leave Marisa Simonetti’s property. Simonetti, who is running for Hennepin County Board, rented her property to Vasquez through Airbnb. “She was in my house less than two weeks before she started sending me double-, triple-paragraph long texts and yelling at people on the phone,” Simonetti claimed. Simonetti said she then purchased a tarantula at a pet store. Vasquez said Simonetti threw the spider at her, while Simonetti maintained that she “tipped it down the stairs.” Simonetti said she was inspired in part by the movie Home Alone. “I was so scared, I was just like, I didn’t know what to do, and so, yeah, I got the spider,” she said. She’s been charged with misdemeanor domestic assault. (NBC News)
