Fireworks sales increased rapidly during the pandemic and peaked during 2022, but it seems like now sales are coming back down to earth. Fireworks imports reached $600 million in 2022, and are now down to $350 million. Since 2010, China has exported 90% of the world’s fireworks. Sales of fireworks may have increased during the pandemic as lighting pyrotechnics is a fun activity that also requires social distancing. In 2021 and 2022, Americans set off about 1.35 pounds of fireworks per person. Public fireworks shows have also made a comeback, reducing demand from consumers who would rather watch a show than host one. (Study Finds)
