Autocado Robots Help Create Chipotle’s Guac

Over the past year, Chipotle and Vebu Labs have worked together to create the Autocado, a robot that peels, cuts, and cores avocados. The bot is expected to cut guacamole prep time in half. The seasoning and mixing, however, will still be done with human hands. “Hand-mashed guac is such a big part of what we are as a brand,” Logan Hull of Chipotle said. “We approached this from the lens of, ‘How do we make part of that task easier for our crew members?” The company has plans to test the robot in restaurants as early as this year.
