As of July 15th, retailer Target has stopped accepting checks. The chain joins Whole Foods and Aldi in no longer accepting this form of payment. Check usage has fallen dramatically in the past couple of decades. 17 billion checks were processed in 2000, compared to only three billion in recent years. The average person still writes about nine checks per year, but they might not even know it. When you use your bank’s online bill payment service, your bank may be writing a check on your behalf. Some people also give checks to landlords, contractors, charities, or government agencies. Others may use checks to give gifts on special occasions. (Study Finds)
