Strawberries may be harder to find due to climate change, a study from the University of Waterloo found. Rising temperatures could interrupt California’s $3 billion dollar strawberry industry. Unusually warm weather could mean smaller yields, which could impact farmers’ livelihoods and the fruit’s cost and availability. A rise in temperature of just three degrees Fahrenheit was linked to a 40% reduction in strawberry yields. “This research shows how climate change can directly impact the foods we love, emphasizing the importance of sustainable farming practices to maintain a stable food supply,” Dr. Poornima Unnikrishman said.
