A poll of 2,000 Americans found that raging sports fans spend $879.40 a year on tickets, merch, and streaming services to watch their favorite teams. In comparison, more moderate sports fans spend about $376.10. 22% of all fans have a pre-game ritual before their favorite team plays. Pre-game habits include cookouts, wearing team gear, tailgating, and even praying. “Many people follow along with pro athletes and partake in traditions because it’s a bonding experience and brings people together,” Fletcher Jones of SquadLocker said. “I think a lot of this comes from so many of us having participated in team sports during our formative years.” (swnsdigital)
