A study from Florida Atlantic University found that lifting weights until you fail to do one more rep doesn’t necessarily build more strength. Conventional strength training wisdom implies that lifting to failure will result in the most strength gains. However, researchers found that when participants stopped with a bit of energy left, they were just as likely to build as much strength as those who lifted until they failed. However, lifting to failure was linked to muscle growth. So if you’re looking to look “swole”, lifting until you can’t lift anymore still provides an edge. The study was based on data from 1,483 participants who tested various workout approaches. (Study Finds)
