A New York transit system cleaner has been accused of saying he was injured on the job in order to avoid work. “My goal was to have the summer off because it was too hot down there,” Henry Herring reportedly told investigators. Prosecutors say Herring claimed he was injured on the job, but actually cut his own hands. Surveillance video of the 179th Street station does not match Herring’s story, which included being pushed and cut by a train passenger. Herring was hired as a transit cleaner last year and has since been suspended without pay. (NY Post)
