Ancient Chinese medicine meets AI! Researchers from Australia have created a system that allows machine learning algorithms to analyze tongue images and predict health issues. This practice has also been a part of traditional Chinese medicine for 2,000 years. The system can tell, just by an image of a person’s tongue, if the patient shows signs of diabetes, respiratory issues, or even certain cancers. “Typically, people with diabetes have a yellow tongue; cancer patients a purple tongue with a thick greasy coating; and acute stroke patients present with an unusually shaped red tongue,” researcher Ali Al-Naji said. The system examined 60 patients in an Iraq hospital and accurately diagnosed 96.6% of cases. (Study Finds)
