Bring on the “dad jokes”! A study published in PLOS ONE found that having a sense of humor could help build more positive relationships with your kids. 71.8% of participants felt that humor was an effective parenting tool, and researchers discovered that funny parents could hold the key to promoting creative problem-solving and resilience. “Stressful situations happen a lot when parenting. Humor can help diffuse that tension and hierarchy and help both parties feel better about a stressful situation,” study author Lucy Emery said. The study surveyed 312 individuals between 18 and 45 years old on how humor was used in their childhoods. (Study Finds)
