Three in four Gen Zers are pointing fingers at social media for the negative impact on their mental health. According to a new study, a poll of 2,000 Gen Z-aged Americans who use social media found that Instagram (20%), TikTok (20%) and Facebook (13%) all have adverse impacts on their wellbeing. Although many have said the reasons they use social media are tied to boredom (66%), wanting to laugh (59%), being in the know on what’s going on in the world (49%) or checking up on friends (44%), nearly half (49%) of Gen Zers said they feel some sort of negative emotions as a result such as stress and anxiety (30%).
