A Kentucky man faked his death in an effort to avoid paying child support. Jesse Kipf, 39, of Somerset, Kentucky has been sentenced to nine years in prison for computer fraud and aggravated identity theft after trying to skip out on outstanding child support. Carlton Shier, the US attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, said that Kipf accessed Hawaii’s death registry system in January of last year. Apparently, Kipf used login details from a living doctor in another part of the States to create a case for his own death and completed a worksheet for a death certificate in Hawaii. He was later registered as a deceased person on different government databases and used other state registry systems and private networks to steal from real people and attempt to sell the access on the dark web.
