A study published in Nature Aging has revealed that we may age in “waves.” While most people tend to think aging happens slowly over time, Stanford scientists found that the process “speeds up” at certain points in our lives. Slowing metabolism, wrinkling skin, and proneness to diseases peak at 44 and 60. “People assume everybody’s kind of aging gradually. It turns out that most changes are not linear,” Dr. Michael Snyder said. Researchers gathered data from 108 people between 25 and 75 years old over a period of about 1.7 years for their study.
