By using dietary data from 185 countries, researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health have found that five billion people are lacking four key nutrients: iodine, vitamin E, calcium, and iron. Four billion aren’t getting enough riboflavin, folate, and vitamin C. “Most people—even more than previously thought, across all regions and countries of all incomes—are not consuming enough of multiple essential micronutrients,” Ty Beal of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition said. Some solutions could include fortifying foods with nutrients or recommending supplements. (Study Finds)
