Parents don’t really know how teens are using AI, a survey of 1,045 parents and teens found. The Common Sense Media poll found that 70% of teens said they had used generative AI, but only 37% of their parents were aware of their use. Teens reported using AI for homework help, to avoid being bored, and to translate something from one language to another. Amanda Lenhart of Common Sense Media suggests parents and teachers talk about how to use AI without violating ethical boundaries. “Most adolescents don’t want to cheat,” Lenhart said. “They want to use it in a way that is appropriate for learning, so tell them where that is so they can walk up to that line and not cross it.” (Mashable)
