A study from The Australian National University found that repeatedly viewing misinformation could make people more likely to become climate change deniers. Researchers asked participants, 90% of whom believed in climate science, to review a mix of statements that aligned with or contradicted climate science. Regardless of the beliefs they held before the study, participants were more likely to agree with repeated statements, even if those repeated statements were not rooted in science. “It could take as little as a single repetition to make someone feel as though a claim were true,” study co-author Norbert Schwarz said. “It’s certainly concerning, especially when you consider how many people are exposed to both truthful and false claims.” (Study Finds)
