South Korean aviation data shows that trash balloons released by North Korean have caused 413 minutes of airport shutdowns so far. Incheon and Cimpo airports have had to close on 20 different occasions since June 1st after the inflatables, which carried garbage, were spotted in the air. On June 26th, takeoffs and landings halted at Incheon for 166 minutes. “This is an internationally shameful and petty act that creates discomfort and anxiety among our people,” a representative for South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.
