Scientists at Brigham and Women’s Hospital have developed a nasal spray that could protect us from Covid-19, the flu, and even the common cold. The spray, called PCANS, works by capturing pathogens as they enter the nose and stopping them from being transported throughout the body. “PCANS forms a gel-like matrix that traps respiratory droplets, immobilizes the germs, and effectively neutralizes them, preventing infection,” co-senior author Nitin Joshi, PhD, said. PCANS has yet to be tested on humans, but tests on mice have been promising. (Study Finds)
