“Chroming” has been gaining popularity on social media, but the trend could have dangerous consequences. Chroming is the act of inhaling household items, like nail polish remover and permanent markers, for a “high.” The practice, also known as “huffing”, is addictive and can cause brain damage or death. Researcher Keerthi Krishna advises parents and pediatricians alike to be aware of this trend. “When products are easily obtainable and glorified on popular sites, it is a potential recipe for dangerous and possibly deadly consequences,” Keerthi concludes.
