Fat Bear Week is now in full swing after a gory delay. The annual event, hosted by Katmai National Park, was postponed by a day after livestream cameras captured two Alaskan grizzlies fighting. Bear 402 unfortunately did not survive the brawl. “National parks like Katmai protect not only the wonders of nature, but also the harsh realities. Each bear seen on the webcams is competing with others to survive,” the park said in a statement. Fat Bear Week commemorates the bears’ summer-long effort to fatten up for hibernation over the winter. Vote for your favorite bruin at explore.org/fat-bear-week. (NY Post)
