A couple involved in an Uber crash cannot sue the company because of the Uber Eats Terms of Service, a New Jersey court ruled. The ruling determined that the couple agreed to arbitration when they placed an Uber Eats order. John McGinty and Georgia McGinty were sitting in the back of an Uber in March 2022 when the driver ran a red light and was T-boned. The couple suffered broken bones and Georgia required surgery. “We are horrified at what the court’s decision suggests: A large corporation like Uber can avoid being sued in a court of law by injured consumers because of contractual language buried in a dozen-page-long user agreement,” the McGintys said. Their attorneys will likely petition the New Jersey Supreme Court. (CNN)
