64% of Americans haven’t had cash on-hand when they needed it, a poll of 2,000 adults found. 18% of Gen Zers always carry cash because they frequent cash-only businesses, and 26% of all Americans keep cash on-hand for “fun money.” 29% of respondents believe that spending cash “doesn’t count” as spending money because their bank account balance does not decrease. “Contrary to what many may believe, cash still plays a key role today,” Janelle Sallenave of Chime said. “34% of all Americans are more likely to carry cash today.” (swnsdigital)
