Giant grizzly Grazer has won the title of Fattest Bear for the second year in a row! According to Katmai National Park, this is the first time a “working mom” has seized the title. Other Mama Bears have won in the past, but they were not actively raising cubs at the time. This year’s Fat Bear Week was rife with drama, as Grazer took on Chunk in the finals. Chunk, a portly bear, killed one of Grazer’s cubs over the summer. The 800-pound Grazer beat Chunk by over 40,000 votes, with many voters coming out to support the “single mom.” “There was a lot of love for Chunk as well. He was just doing what bears do,” Katmai National Park spokesperson Sarah Bruce said. Fat Bear Week is the park’s annual contest recognizing the weight bruins must gain for a successful winter hibernation. (The Sun)
