A Chinese woman pleaded guilty on Friday to attempting to smuggle 29 turtles into Canada. Wan Yee Ng admitted that she was going to use an inflatable kayak to paddle from Vermont to Canada on Lake Wallace. Officials discovered the turtles wrapped in socks in Yee Ng’s duffle bag. Yee Ng now faces up to 10 years in prison for unlawfully attempting to export the animals. Eastern box turtles are sold on the black market for up to $1000 dollars each. (AP News)
