Sweden and Denmark are the latest countries to outlaw cousins marrying one another. The law will go into effect in 2025. Norway has already banned cousin marriage earlier in the year. “Cousin marriages are often arranged and that the decision on marriage primarily lies with a family or clan and not really an individual choice,” Swedish Judge Anne Kuttenkeuler said regarding the decision. Cousin marriage is still completely legal in some states, although Tennessee is the latest to tackle the issue. (newser)
