Women on TikTok who are trying to conceive are using an unusual over-the-counter treatment: Mucinex. Hopeful moms-to-be use decongestants with the active ingredient guaifenesin in an attempt to thin out their cervical mucus. Less mucus could mean the sperm reaches the egg easier. But does it work? A study published back in 1982 found that 15 out of 40 couples with cervical fertility issues became pregnant while using guaifenesin, but there was no control group in this study. Makers of Mucinex Reckitt states that Mucinex should “only be used as intended in line with label directions.” (Study Finds)
