How do you react when someone flirts with your partner? A study from Reichman University found that, instead of jealousy, people may feel a decrease in sexual desire. While previous research has shown that potential mates are more appealing if they appear more desirable, this shifts once a relationship has been established. “While some people might attempt to make their partner jealous by attracting attention from others, hoping to feel more desirable or secure, research indicates that this tactic can backfire,” Professor Gurit E. Birnbaum said. For their study, researchers asked participants to imagine someone flirting with their partner, remember someone flirting with their partner, or observe an avatar of their partner being flirted with.
