61% of horror, mystery, and true crime readers think they could crack a real-life whodunit. The survey of 2,000 spooky genre lovers found that 41% think they’d survive a horror novel, and men were more confident in their survival skills than women (51% compared to 37%). After reading a spooky book, 21% have checked under the bed, and 20% refused to answer the door. “Who hasn’t slept with the lights on after reading a terrifying book?” Barbara Hagen of ThriftBooks said. “The scary book genre is a lot at once: Chilling, energizing and enthralling.” (swnsdigital)
