A source at Meta reported that about two dozen of the tech giant’s Los Angeles-based employees were let go for abusing meal perks. According to the anonymous source, these employees used their daily food delivery allowance to buy nonfood items like laundry detergent and acne pads. The perk is intended for when staffers are working late in the office and need a bite to eat. “On days where I would not be eating at the office, like if my husband was cooking or if I was grabbing dinner with friends, I figured I ought not to waste the dinner credit,” one ex-employee wrote anonymously on Blind.
