A recent study from the University of Sydney found that standing for two hours or more daily increases the risk of circulatory disease, like blood clots in the legs. This is bad news if you purchased a standing desk to offset the negative impact of sitting. “The key takeaway is that standing for too long will not offset an otherwise sedentary lifestyle and could be risky,” study author Dr. Matthew Ahmadi said. Researchers analyzed data from over 83,000 adults without heart disease and also found that sitting for 10 hours daily increased the risk of heart and circulatory diseases. Researchers suggest incidental movement throughout the day and structured exercise as opposed to long periods of sitting and standing. (newser)
