A sewer in Shoreham, England was blocked because it was stuffed full of candy wrappers, prompting water treatment workers to remind residents to only flush human waste and toilet paper down the drain. The Wastewater Networks for Southern Water team discovered stacks of discarded wrappers, which were cleaned up before internal flooding could occur. “When we’re warning people to only put three Ps down the loo — poo, pee and paper — instead of ‘unflushables’ like wet wipes and sanitary products, we include sweet wrappers in that list,” Alex Saunders of Wastewater Networks said.
