Up to 1 in 5 seafood products are mislabeled, a study from Ambrose University found. Researchers sampled 347 fin fish products and 109 shellfish from Calgary-area restaurants and grocery stores. 100% of snapper products were mislabeled, and nine salmon products were actually rainbow trout. Atlantic salmon, basa, halibut, mackerel, sockeye salmon, and Pacific white shrimp were all correctly labeled. Researchers advise purchasing whole fish, which is harder to mislabel. (Study Finds)
